Recently, I G-Chatted with the one and only Mixtress of R&B, DJ Diva, a little while ago wanting to know if I’d like to share one of her great mixes with TSR’s readership. Now, I couldn’t very well contact you all and ask you personally but I’m pretty sure you’d want it. So on your behalf, I quickly and happily accepted.

Diva shot the links over and we checked it out all while typing this up and throwing together a quick artwork for the files. The entire mix is compiled of all the tracks from last year that made the majority of the noise in those nighttime meeting places and venues, as well as just plain old smash hits. Now you know full well that I don’t normally cater to commercial anything, but this mix has a good bit of tracks that got heavy rotation which I did enjoy whenever the rarity of a terrestrial radio station was playing within earshot.

Plus it’s a DJ Diva mix!! With her being ”Your favorite blogger’s favorite DJ“, and being well known for her Monday Mixtape series, also in addition to recently being featured on SOULBOUNCE as their first female Mixologist, how could I pass this up?

In true DJ Diva fashion she has provided links to a Lo-Fi version that while is FREE and sounds dayum good, won’t make your speakers thump as much as the Hi-Fi version which we’ll be hosting on Bandcamp for a penny short of a whole dollar.

Considering the economy, thats not a bad deal. Plus if you were to buy all these tracks separately, in CD Quality and on the iTunes, it would run you $26 but hey, we’ll let you do your own math.

Hey Everybody! What a way to close out the year! Kanye’s new album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” has been on constant repeat in my headphones for the last 3 weeks so I built this mixtape around him. I threw in some new joints, had to look out for Harlem and the Dipset Reunion! That new song by Brandy sounds like a Ne-Yo song and speaking of Ne-Yo, I threw in a couple by him too! Considering that it was Pink Friday last week, I included some Nikki Minaj. Personally I think Lil Kim roasted her in Black Friday so that’s in the mix too!

I love love love hip hop with an alternative sound so there’s sone Lupe Fiasco, Bruno Mars and some Eminem with Rhianna (I LOVE THAT SONG)

Hey Everybody! This is June Jacking Part 5! It should be called the Drake Edition because of course I love his new album!

I call it June Jacking because when I started hustling mixed cds 7 years ago…it was really jacking the net for music then.  I would spend hours searching for songs and uploading songs from my cds…just a long drawn out process!

Things are easier now with places like Limewire and Dopehood.com (love yall!)  When I need new music now I tend to head over to Eb-the Celeb‘s site or YouHeardThatNew (although I don’t mess with rap that much). My new music mixes are generally more on the hiphop side and probably not safe for children under 11. Play at your own risk!

Jimi Izrael and DJ Diva are back with a new mixtape for The Denzel Principle. I’m off vacation/work break to bring you a hot new mixtape. Jimi Izrael, the author of The Denzel Principle: Why Black Women Can’t Find Good Black Men, reached out to me to fashion a new mix for him. I enjoyed the first one I did for him (which you can find here), so I was happy to be tapped to do the second one. Thanks to TripleGoddess for the cover and image you see here! I’ve read his book 3 times so I had an idea of what I was looking at the second time around. As with the first, I included many instrumentals (can you guess which?) and some of my new favorites jams to blend in between his readings. The full length track is available so take a listen and respond to what Jimi has to say. His readings are in black. For the record, I agree with Jimi on a lot of his points. Not Denzel though…more like Boris Kodjoe for me.

Hey Everybody! It’s time for a new music mixtape again. I’m still playing the one I did in December (I said that last year too lol). March Madness Part 2. It should be called “Radio Friendly” because a lot of these songs are being played on the radio right now. There is a new track by Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beatz called “Fancy” that I am just in love with. I was unable to get a clean copy but I didn’t care! Thanks Tapemasters Inc anyway!

My favorite mix moment was between #8. I Come First – Ne-Yo and #9. Freak – Estelle Ft. Kardinal Offishall. I just grin every time I hear that part of the mix. I’m also diggin that song “Miss Chocolate” by Lil Jon, R. Kelly and Mario and the new J. Holiday song “Pretty Body”. I’m still loving the Untitled Album by R. Relly and it’s always nice to hear a new tune by John Legend (Thanks EbTheCeleb!) A few minor glitches but I love the mix and I hope you will too!

Believe it or not, Usher had doubts about releasing the revealing single “Papers” earlier this month.

According to songwriter Sean Garrett, the song was almost replaced with another record.

“We talked about this record coming out quite a few times,” Garrett tells PEOPLE.

“‘Should it come out? Should it not come out?’ We had questions about how it would be taken”.

While the song has taken off at radio and on the R&B/Hip Hop songs chart, jumping forty-three spots (60-17) last week, it has earned Usher a bit of backlash — both from fans and soon-to-be ex wife Tameka Foster Raymond.

Raymond, also subject of a 911 call in September(released last week), wrote a lengthy blog on Global Grind shortly after “Papers” debuted on the net. Calling certain entertainers “Thirsty,” Foster Raymond pointed out the fact that some will do anything to maintain a certain level of success in music.

According to Garrett however, the song would have never come out if feedback and approval from Usher’s label had not been as great as it was.

“We knew it was a smash,” says Garrett.

As previously reported, “Papers” is the lead single from Usher’s forthcoming album “Raymond vs. Raymond” due in stores in December.

Hey everybody! This mix of new songs is real New York heavy. It could be from the fact that we moved again in Harlem. Really the heart of Harlem this time. I love New York. The feel of the artists..the pounding of the beats. I could see myself having a Lil Mama moment during Jay-Z’s performance too. Shout out to my boy Fave for putting together a quick cover for me and my lil Mama moment!

Most of the songs are relatively new. My daughters made requests for Chris Brown, Beyonce, and Pitbull. I included a new artist Jay Sean cause his song was really catchy to me. My new R&B favorites Ryan Leslie, Mario and Trey Songz.

I put in R. Kelly’s new joint “Religious” which took me to church. I got Boyz II Men’s new single “Back For Good” which is a remake of the hit by Take That. I especially enjoyed that ..thanks Shawn! Ursher’s “Papers” is the male version of “Not Gonna Cry’ . Shout out to my girl Eb_the_Celeb for the link!

August has been hot in NYC. Likewise the R&B being released is just as hot! We have two powerhouses starting off the mix..Hubby said I HAD to make Whitney #1 and the more I listened to her, the more I knew he was on point as usual. That daggon Mary song is so catchy and so Diva!

I still like Chris Brown.

That Wale track is booty shaking worthy and I’m watching Keri come up hard. Harlem as always with Webstar…Ryan and NeYo duke it out…I think Ryan is better though   My party girl Eb the Celeb MADE me like the Young Chris joint and I’m glad I listened! Had to throw in that Mario track…it’s got such an original melody. 2 Songs by Fabolous because he came hard this summer.

For the slowdown grooves we have a new inspiration song from Usher that surprised the heck out of me when I heard his falsetto. We have some songs from Al B Sure, Chico, Babyface and Maxwell that needed to be played on one of my mixes this summer.

It was hard to chose between R. Kelly’s and Whitney’s version of Salute but I’m glad that I chose Whitney. This will be her comeback album (regardless of what she says) and I’m thrilled that R. Kelly wrote this hit for her. He is the King of R&B.

I still like Chris Brown.
