Hey Everybody…A new month, a new Monday and a new mixtape. Once again I prove that I’m your favorite blogger’s favorite DJ. This week is a New Groove/NeoSoul collaboration that I worked on with SueZette for the relaunch of her website www.dearzette.com . It was also a good time to highlight some of the independent artists I’ve been listening to like Anthony David, Eric Roberson, Foreign Exchange, Yahzarah and Zo! I’ve included links, so please support the artists!!!!
t’s fitting that this would be my return mixtape. I start out every year on The Mixtress with a Prince Mix. I also got a chance to see his Welcome 2 America Tour which was quite awesome. I have 2 more mixtapes in the fault coming for yall so I look forward to jamming with yall to my upcoming Monday Mixtapes.
Man…it feels good to be back!
Hey Everybody! What a way to close out the year! Kanye’s new album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” has been on constant repeat in my headphones for the last 3 weeks so I built this mixtape around him. I threw in some new joints, had to look out for Harlem and the Dipset Reunion! That new song by Brandy sounds like a Ne-Yo song and speaking of Ne-Yo, I threw in a couple by him too! Considering that it was Pink Friday last week, I included some Nikki Minaj. Personally I think Lil Kim roasted her in Black Friday so that’s in the mix too!
This is the first of 4 mixtapes that were inspired while I was on my vacation. Bobby Womack Vs David Ruffin. Both were powerhouses in the R&B scene during the 70′s and early 80′s and my heart has a soft spot for both of them.
This week’s mix is continuing my series of slow jams. I created a new category on the side to help you find them. I’ve had Babymaking Music, Secret Lovers, Sexcellence, Isley Brothers Ballads and of course my 3 Annual CupidHunt Podcasts.
This time I wanted some love music from the late 80′s and 90′s male singers. I’m real partial to all male mixtapes as you can see. It almost feels like they singing to me. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know if yall make any babies off these slow jam mixes
The new year is starting out great for me…I’ve been pulled back into my old hustle of making customized mixtapes. I had so much fun with this one. It has everything on it from hip-hop to soca. A little reggae, some R&B and of course some old school!!!
This is my December Mix aka The Usual Suspects. I’ve been listening to a lot of new albums these past few weeks and I’m proud to say that my favorite singers came hard! Say what you will about R. Kelly, Chris Brown and Alicia Keys but their artistic work stands firm. Hardships, mistakes and even crimes cannot take away their talent. I hope you enjoy the mix!
Hey Everybody! I had more requests for the 90′s so this time I went mid late 90′s. Full of the bouncy R&B joints and since I spent the weekend with hubby, I threw in a few joints for him too!
This mix means a lot to me. Those of you who knew me as a teenager, knew that I was a firm follower of the Daisy Age. I walked around with hand painted daisies on the butts of my jeans, wore a leather Africa piece, had the Mexican poncho with the Native American woven backpack. In my ears was a yellow Sony waterproof Walkman with homemade mixtapes of pro Black, pro Women, pro progress music. This was also during the aftermath of the crack epidemic…when Harlem still could resemble New Jack City..and the lyrics in the musics lamented the effects of crack and what it did to ordinary people.
