Hey Everybody! It’s time for a new Producer Spotlight. This week I’m doing Swizz Beatz!!!

I call him the King of the break because he has best break timing I’ve ever heard. Although he mainly works with rappers, Swizz is more than capable of producing an R&B Mega Hit! My favorite song to dance to in the club is still “Get Me Bodied” and Beyonce’s handlers were brilliant when they got Swizz to do that beat. Swizz Beatz has been on the scene since the late 90′s and much of his early work was with the Ruff Ryder crew. He made those hard core thugs from Yonkers transform into club kings with his beats. One of his best years so far was 2007 where he had 10 songs on the billboard charts.

I read a post recently by DJ Stylus where he said that he refuses requests to play R. Kelly while he’s spinning. He based it on how he felt about R. Kelly’s troubles with the law and his fondness for young girls. Now while I understood how he felt, I also thought that it was a little harsh. After all, music is music. No one stopped playing Michael Jackson because he liked little boys. We didn’t stop listening to Whitney Houston because she smoked crack and we also loved Biggie although he sold it. I personally don’t look at the personal lives of artists to enjoy their art. If we did, we probably wouldn’t look at any paintings or listen to any music because we all know that artists tend to have pretty messed up lifestyles or desires.

That said, while I was thinking of these things the idea of R. Kelly as the King of the Remix began to form in my head. As I went through my mental discography, I kept coming up with more hits done by the R. Of course I put them all together and this mixtape was born. Say what you want but R. Kelly consistently gives us good music. Well good in my eyes. Sure most of it has x-rated lyrics or sexual undertones…but that’s what we’ve always loved about him right?  Well these are some of my favorites:
