Hey Everybody! I came up with this mix after watching the new Tyler Perry Movie “For Colored Girls” based on the play “For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Wasn’t Enuf” by Ntozake Shange. I personally thought it was a good movie. I was thankful to see so many actresses of color working in a film about us. I am grateful that Tyler took the project on even though most don’t think he was qualified to do it. If he didn’t do it…who would have?

Anyway, considering my situation and the fact that I identified with most of the characters I decided to put together my own mix. I chose a song for all of the characters and for myself. I hope you enjoy it!

This week’s Monday Mixtape is dedicated to my sister and BEST FRIEND Divalicious.  It’s full of her favorite ladies from the 80′s!!!It was her 40th birthday and although I wasn’t able to celebrate in person with her in Memphis, she knows I was there in spirit. She is my very best friend. Ever since she was 10 and I was 7. Everything  that has happened in our lives have always been similar and it was she who forced me to buy equipment 10 years ago and to start djaying for money. Actually she got me my first gig. She named me DJ Diva and then took the hype man name of Divalicious.
