The Cross Country Collective is a group made up of Fave, Mr. Fresh and Todd Kelley. I know you have heard all three voices in my mixtapes because they are some of the founders of the Music Podcast Consortium.  My big brothers put together a virtual group and released their first EP. I’m so proud of them and I know you will love their track “Give It To Ya”.

It was also through C3 that I got to know and love Philip Clark. Philip Clark was born with Rhythm & Blues in his blood, despite being the only funky white boy of his kind to hail from Wyoming. A natural performer since childhood, he continued to hone his aural talents with a formal degree in music and thereafter in some of the best venues and studios in the Rockies. . In 2001, he released his debut, “The State of Blue-Eyed Soul,” which held Top-10 positions on several radio charts. He now lives in Los Angeles and is currently producing his sophomore effort, “The Dreamchilde Suites.” I included his single “World Turns Around”. It’s such a great track and I’m looking forward to featuring him again soon..

One last special mention goes out to my boy  Kristopher Lamont. A Detroit native, I met Kris at a Michael Jackson Memorial concert held at SOB’s by Soulbounce and Eric Roberson.  “Change” is Kristopher’s first track as an independent artist and was recorded with Maurice “Moe” Whitsett. Presently, work is being put in with Keith “Bubby” Webb on Kristopher’s debut album looking to be released in the winter. His voice is buttery, velvety and quite polished and there is already a buzz about town for this upcoming act from Detroit. “I want to touch people with my voice. I came to bring love to all through my music. Even when I’m singing about things that might not make one smile, it’s to say, – hey, I’ve been through that too and I hope this song gets you through.” I have to say I love this track and it quickly became one of my theme songs!

Hey Everybody! I came up with this mix after watching the new Tyler Perry Movie “For Colored Girls” based on the play “For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Wasn’t Enuf” by Ntozake Shange. I personally thought it was a good movie. I was thankful to see so many actresses of color working in a film about us. I am grateful that Tyler took the project on even though most don’t think he was qualified to do it. If he didn’t do it…who would have?

Anyway, considering my situation and the fact that I identified with most of the characters I decided to put together my own mix. I chose a song for all of the characters and for myself. I hope you enjoy it!

The Ladies have been calling for more Heartbreak music and I also needed something along the lines of this. Maybe it’s a music “Dear John” letter to my exes or it could be a purging which is also overdue for me. I experienced a lot of emotions doing this mix. I redid it twice because I wanted it right. My girl Golden aka Miss Jo_Ladie made a request last week for some workout music! Now me and her go way back…back to where we didn’t speak but moved around in the same blog circles (back when I was a personal blogger lol) Since arriving on Twitter and especially since my return back to NY…it seems we have gotten closer and that’s a good thing because I would never have know what a talented and sweet person she is. Amy Winehouse has been arrested in connection with a video that allegedly shows the “Rehab” singer taking drugs, the BBC reports.

Police obtained the video in January after Britain’s The Sun newspaper published photos of the Grammy Award winner allegedly smoking crack. The paper also released footage of Winehouse, 24, in which she appeared to inhale fumes from a pipe.

“Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment,” the singer’s publicist told People magazine. “She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries.”

Winehouse has had a history of run-ins with the law due to alleged drug-related offenses. Late last month, she spent a night in a London jail after being accused of committing assault.
