This is part 2 of the Monday Mixtape for this week. Here is part one..

So I like I said before…I have been swamped by outings with friends, the twins graduation, Prom and induction into the Honor Society, changes in leadership at the job…It’s been quite a summer so far.

I’m behind but I like to keep my promises.

This mix was requested by my best friend Tutu. Yeah she’s my best friend. Divaliscious is my sister and Tutu is my best friend. She requested this mix for her b’day back in April and although I was still going to class at Scratch, I put this together for her. I used some of songs I was listening to in April and may…with some of the songs i used for my final at the Scratch Academy…with some of the songs I heard during Tutu’s birthday weekend…

Funny thing is…I threw a graduation party for the twins and this mix was such a hit…so uhm…you might want to listen to what your kids are listening to..

I took too long posting it…but those who have had it…have loved it…so why hold on to it?

The Monday Mixtape will be late today. I may not be able to get to it until tomorrow. I had a Man Down situation….let me tell you what happened…

This whole weekend was spent scouting out new equipment. Since I started at the Scratch Academy, I been ready to test my chops on my own stuff. I don’t have the time to leave my husband and kids on the weekends to head down to practice so I knew I needed some new turntables stat! My good friend BKPepsi called and said that her son wanted to give up his barely used equipment and she had a few crates of records to throw in as well. (God is good…just when I was ready …he made it available to me…how’s that for being on the right path?) Anyway…Saturday the girls and I head over to her house about 15 blocks away, armed with a shopping cart and cash. Looking at everything I had to carry, I knew it would be a double trip so my dumb a$$…instead of going church on Sunday for Easter…decided to save the second trip for Sunday (too cheap to pay for a cab *smh*).

Oh, I rationalized it.

“People who never go to church go on Easter…. It’s gonna be packed….I go to church all the time…I’ll just go get the records and go to church next Sunday”

So me and the girls head back over to get the records (BKPepsi really hooked me up). We pack all of them in and head back for the house…15 blocks away! Heavy a$$ shopping cart…me in loafers…just had a afternoon martini at Pepsi’s…so it was a recipe for disaster.

So we are walking…trying to avoid the grooves in the sidewalk (NYC is the f-ing worst!). One of my daughters, Ra-Ra was chattering on about something. Just as we almost got to IHop on 135th…the inevitable happened. The shopping cart went into a groove…I wasn’t paying attention and whoops-a-daisy. DJ Diva was laid out on 135th and 7th ave in front of 30 people waiting to get into IHop.

Records was everywhere.

I managed to get up quite quickly and dust myself off. The girls and I picked up the records and made it home.

But when I got home…I discoved that I had twisted my ankle badly and had to spend the rest of night soaking my foot in epsom salt and having hubby give me piggy back rides to the bathroom.

I managed to make it in to work, although I could barely put my shoe because of the swelling and ACE bandage on my ankle.

So there you go…the Monday Mixtape will be delayed because of a Man Down Situation. It was a Code 10.
