Whitney Houston has always sung my life’s soundtrack. I regret that I haven’t done a tribute to her up until now. My mother has begged me for 2 years to do a mix. I made a cd for her but I didn’t take the time to do a full fledged mix. I still remember when she brought home Whitney’s first album. She and my father would dance in the living room: slow dance and work the floor to her fast hits. When they would go out and leave me to babysit, I remember listening to her slow jams. I would sit, obsess over my latest crush, think and cry over the lyrics. As I grew older, Whitney Houston continued to touch my life with her music. Ever since I found out about her death, I have been devastated. My mother said that she thought I would do a good job with this mix and I really hope I did. Thank you Whitney. Thank you. And thank you Mommy. You have always guided my music life and I’m thankful that I had mother like you to show me what real music is and was.
Revolutionary Soul
This mixtape was orginally born months ago from listening to @Brokemogul ‘s Soulful playlist on Spotify *. If you didn’t know: Scott Vener aka BrokeMogul is the Music Supervisor for HBO’s Entourage, How To Make It In America, 90210 and Forty. When I discovered his playlists *, what I had known about his music prowess, exploded into the stratosphere! You need to get to know this guy! I was playing around with what he had and made a playlist called Reactionary Soul *.
This Monday Mixtape was born from a Twitter request by a very close blogging friend of mine: Joann from Music Looks Like This.com She’s a photographer who takes awesome shots at concerts and anyplace where music is being performed. Her work is simply amazing. Check out the photo she took of me at SOB’s below. [...]
Hey Everybody! This week’s mixtape was the result of a poll I placed on my Facebook “Like” page. I gave the people a choice and the resounding result was an Old School Slow Jam mix. Well this ain’t your typical slow jam mix. My mixes usually take on my moods muscially and this one is [...]
This week’s Monday mixtape is once again dedicated to the King of R & B Producers: Teddy Riley! I’ve made no secret about how much I adore Teddy’s work. This makes the third mixtape I’ve done for him.
I am Soulbounce’s first female Mixologist!!!!!
I can’t tell you how excited I am!!! It’s another 80′s Smooth Grooves Mix. This would be Part 6! Much Love to Huny, ButtaBaby and Ill Mami for thinking of me when they thought of a female DJ.
Special thanks to Huny for the Coverart..My girl is BAD with the graphics! Check her out at Phattygirl.com for design and graphic requests!
I told you I was your favorite blogger’s favorite DJ!
This is the first of 4 mixtapes that were inspired while I was on my vacation. Bobby Womack Vs David Ruffin. Both were powerhouses in the R&B scene during the 70′s and early 80′s and my heart has a soft spot for both of them.
This week’s mix is continuing my series of slow jams. I created a new category on the side to help you find them. I’ve had Babymaking Music, Secret Lovers, Sexcellence, Isley Brothers Ballads and of course my 3 Annual CupidHunt Podcasts.
This time I wanted some love music from the late 80′s and 90′s male singers. I’m real partial to all male mixtapes as you can see. It almost feels like they singing to me. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know if yall make any babies off these slow jam mixes
Hey Everybody! I’m back…with a new oldschool mixtape to get your BBQ season started off right! I hope you enjoy this groove music…and don’t burn those ribs while you trying to dance!
