Monday Mixtape: Revolutionary Soul (MLK Mix)

Revolutionary Soul

This mixtape was orginally born months ago from listening to @Brokemogul ‘s Soulful playlist on Spotify *. If you didn’t know: Scott Vener aka BrokeMogul is the Music Supervisor for HBO’s Entourage, How To Make It In America, 90210 and Forty. When I discovered his playlists *, what I had known about his music prowess, exploded into the stratosphere! You need to get to know this guy! I was playing around with what he had and made a playlist called Reactionary Soul *.

Monday Mixtape: MLLT’s Old School Jams

This Monday Mixtape was born from a Twitter request by a very close blogging friend of mine:  Joann from  Music Looks Like This.com She’s a photographer who takes awesome shots at concerts and anyplace where music is being performed. Her work is simply amazing. Check out the photo she took of me at SOB’s below. [...]

It’s that time again! Suezette’s Birthday!! Well it passed but wish her a happy birthday anyway. We did another bomb collaboration in this week’s mixtape. Monday Mixtape: 80′s Cuffin Season Mix

Well #CuffinSeason is upon us. I racked my brain trying to find something suitable. Weeks went by and still I had nothing. And I’m not going to mix if I’m not inspired by a theme (or if I’m not getting paid for it lol). Slowly a theme began to take shape. I remembered when I [...]

Monday Mixtape: The Get Over It Mix

With some of my favorite female rockers, I made this mixtape to give you something to cry about and get mad at the person at the same time. Time heals all wounds, so if it seems like tonight is particularly bad, cry it out and resolve to get over it tomorrow. That’s how I deal with heartbreak and this mix helped me alot.

Monday Mixtape: 90′s HipHip (Lynneluvah request)

First in the Blog world when I started out 7 years ago on Blogspot,  but for the last 4 years I have followed her on Twitter, [...]

New Mixtape: That’s The Way Love Goes

Everyone knows I like to do “themes” with my mixtapes. I like to tell stories through music. When I first started to assemble this playlist I thought “this is going to be the Bipolar Janet Mix”. It didn’t seem like the songs would fit together. Slowly an idea began growing in my head about how to make the songs more cohesive for your listening experience. I’ve decided to go with my version of how love affairs start, progress and eventually fade or burn out. Being single for a year now, this mixtape gave me a chance to illustrate how my love stories usually go..

“Like a moth to a flame burned by a fire…”

New Mixtape: Summer Jams 2011

I have been jamming to some of these songs since May so I hope you indulge me in some of my song choices. I have the pleasure of including some new tracks by Syleena Johnson and Kindred The Family. I’m the Mixtress of R&B so of course I have Jill Scott, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Monica and Tyrese. Although the mix is R&B flavored, I have some hip hop included like that new song Otis by Jay Z and Kanye, some Frank Ocean, Big Sean and J.Cole. I’m sure this mixtape will make you dance so I put in some dance tracks by Pitbull and a new jam “Titanium” from David Guetta featuring Mary that is HOT even with the tags. For my Reggae massive I have some Rhianna, Movado, Elephant Man and a great tune from Melanie Fiona. I got some slow jams too: this mix reminds me of those old school Hot 97 bootleg cds lol
