DJ L makes a good effort on RNB #12. He has great tracks, but at times gets a little scratch happy. I love to hear skill but when it turns into sounding like a messed up cd, I have to press skip. Instead of mixing, you will hear horns or scratching to let you know that the songs have changed. At times he makes questionable choices but the songs hold their own.

Review:

Red Cafe’s Eviction Notice is a compliation of drug tales and gangster profiling. After listening to this mixtape, if you takes notes you could probably be the next Nino Brown. Red included a host of mainstream rappers and some unknowns. Lyn Carter sounds like a replica of Amil, but she’s acceptable on these hard tracks. Sean Kingston is no Akon, but Red Cafe got the necessary annoying singing from him. Red Cafe should score a hit with this one amongst his fan base.

Notable cuts: #3, #4, #11, 14

-Bam Bam (you gotta love the classic reggae beat!)

-Dolla Bill [remix] (club banger)

-Cowards Ain’t Neva There (I really dig the horns and 70′s black film feel to it)

Review:

To say that Wale is the second coming of conscious rap would be an understatement. This son of Nigerian immigrants is from Washington DC and the Go-Go beats throughout the mixtape would clue you in to that immediately. Go-Go is wildly popular in the DC and B-More areas, but rarely is it played anywhere else. Wale could change that though, with this heavily Seinfeld influenced mixtape, which holds crazy cuts to entertain the ears. There is jest, tongue in cheek references and “The Manipulation” will have you hitting the rewind button. Great effort. I just wonder what he would sound like on a studio produced album, but it may not matter because this concept mixtape is definitely worth the money.

Notable cuts:#02, #10,#11, #16

- The Manipulation (once you get past the Seinfeld piece the beat knocks…plus the lyrics are fire)

Review:

I was one of those people who heard about Amanda Diva but never paid too much attention to her. A pretty face, while listening to her new mixtape, I quickly discovered that she had enormous talent on the mic. The lyrics are thought provoking and cerebral. The freestyles are sick! The beats are a awesome mix of Neo-soul, cutting snares, and head knocking old school. Amanda Diva put a lot of work into this and it shows! Notable cuts include: The whole cd. You won’t be able to turn it off! I know she’s a woman…but to the guys it’s no chicky fodder.

Top 5 Banging Beats worth listening to:

-Heart Of The City [Windows Over Harlem remix](The title speaks for itself and the beats match!)
-Rocksteady (Made me feel I was at the Rucker’s Game)
-Chucks & Kangols (Club banger..Diva Track)
-You Say (The beat is minimal which drives the lyric subject matter harder)
-Crazy World (Reminds you of an old school beat is surprisingly fresh)

Track Listing

Review:

First off, I appreciated the fact the Envy kept the annoying yelling to a minimum. Envy focused on “Tha South” and I was happy to see that he stayed true to the concept and went all over the south for this from Virginia to Texas! It’s a little laughable to have Rick Ross, Plies and Young Buck talking all hard. The mixtape is also Lil Wayne heavy which should appeal to anyone thirsty for more of the Young Weezy. Notable cuts include: #5, #8, #9, #10, #12, #18.

Top 5 Banging Beats worth listening to:

Don’t Touch Me – Lil Wayne (Sounds like Wayne was raised on 145th Street in Harlem)
Turn Heads – Dem Franchize Boyz ft. Lloyd (Very R&B-ish. Should appeal to both genders)
Donk (remix) – Soulja Boy ft. Yung Joc (Booties will be shaking all over the place)
