I have been working on a package for my BFF’s daughter and I noticed that she had a lot of female rock singers included in her request list. That got the wheels turning and during one particularly emotional session, I came up with this mix. With some of my favorite female rockers, I made this mixtape to give you something to cry about and get mad at the person at the same time. Time heals all wounds, so if it seems like tonight is particularly bad, cry it out and resolve to get over it tomorrow. That’s how I deal with heartbreak and this mix helped me alot.

Everyone knows I like to do “themes” with my mixtapes. I like to tell stories through music. When I first started to assemble this playlist I thought “this is going to be the Bipolar Janet Mix”. It didn’t seem like the songs would fit together. Slowly an idea began growing in my head about how to make the songs more cohesive for your listening experience. Welcome to another Memphis Edition of the Monday Mixtape. Memphis Blues Part 2 aka the Marriage Blues. When I go to different cities, I like to pick up on the musical tastes of those around me and the various night spots we hang out in. Here is the first Memphis Blues Mix that I did (click here). This time around what I noticed the most were that the most popular songs were about cheating…and not just cheating…serious adultery was being committed in these songs. Women..Men…they both were singing about sneaking around on their spouses. Stories, advice, caution…a person could pick up a lot of tips if one was so inclined

The Ladies have been calling for more Heartbreak music and I also needed something along the lines of this. Maybe it’s a music “Dear John” letter to my exes or it could be a purging which is also overdue for me. I experienced a lot of emotions doing this mix. I redid it twice because I wanted it right. Hey Everybody! This week’s mixtape is all about 70′s heartbreak and definitely for old school heads!!! ( a masterpiece in my eyes)  (Warning…I was feeling it so the mix went over the 80min mark…can’t burn it….sorry lol Holla if you want it for a cd) I picked some of the songs that used to make me cry, my momma cry and my daddy cry. I’m sure Grandma listened to quite a few of these too! This is the kind of music you cry in your beer to…Heineken preferably. Some classics..some mainstream…some underground..

I’m trying out something new. I’ve had a lot of requests for more slow music so I think I’ll be alternating between dance mixes and slow mixes for awhile. I also start back to Graduate School this week (Gotta burn this for my Professor…he loves my stuff), my girls are coming home and start middle school next week so I should be quite busy.
