This Monday Mixtape is a special birthday request for Smarty’s World. Smarty is a wonderful writer/blogger from North Carolina that I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting in person yet, but we have become pretty close online. She had been mentioning that she really wanted a customized mix of her own for her 30th birthday [...]
This Milk and Cookies mixtape is one that I promised my daughters. I love new R&B and lately we have been listening to a lot of the same songs even though they are 13 and I’m…well..LOL! Some of these songs refuse to give up their grip on me and many of them are very explicit. [...]
Whitney Houston has always sung my life’s soundtrack. I regret that I haven’t done a tribute to her up until now. My mother has begged me for 2 years to do a mix. I made a cd for her but I didn’t take the time to do a full fledged mix. I still remember when she brought home Whitney’s first album. She and my father would dance in the living room: slow dance and work the floor to her fast hits. When they would go out and leave me to babysit, I remember listening to her slow jams. I would sit, obsess over my latest crush, think and cry over the lyrics. As I grew older, Whitney Houston continued to touch my life with her music. Ever since I found out about her death, I have been devastated. My mother said that she thought I would do a good job with this mix and I really hope I did. Thank you Whitney. Thank you. And thank you Mommy. You have always guided my music life and I’m thankful that I had mother like you to show me what real music is and was.
Revolutionary Soul
This mixtape was orginally born months ago from listening to @Brokemogul ‘s Soulful playlist on Spotify *. If you didn’t know: Scott Vener aka BrokeMogul is the Music Supervisor for HBO’s Entourage, How To Make It In America, 90210 and Forty. When I discovered his playlists *, what I had known about his music prowess, exploded into the stratosphere! You need to get to know this guy! I was playing around with what he had and made a playlist called Reactionary Soul *.
This Monday Mixtape was born from a Twitter request by a very close blogging friend of mine: Joann from Music Looks Like This.com She’s a photographer who takes awesome shots at concerts and anyplace where music is being performed. Her work is simply amazing. Check out the photo she took of me at SOB’s below. [...]
Two days ago, DJ Spinderella had a twitter rant after learning Lil Wayne had decided to become a DJ. She had words for a lot of celebrities like Alicia Keys aka DJ Mrs AK-47 and Kanye West aka DJ Yeezy World Peace. Check out the timeline which I was able to get from Carlton Jordan: [...]

I love this video…Get it Grandma!
Miss Aretha Franklin is getting married for the third time at 69. It seems the songstress is in love enough to tie the knot again. To some it may appear to be useless, but from what I’ve learned from my own grandmother, a woman never ceases to want that promise of an everlasting bond with [...]
